There is more to building designing than just drawing out what the floor plan and then producing a rendering of what the building will look like from the drawings.  It is what comes after the building design that makes the drawings even more important.

Permits

Getting the building permits is the first important step taken towards making the building real.  This is not an easy feat in the commercial development industry.  Building drawings are looked over very closely and every detail is looked at.  Site visits and environmental tests have to be completed before building permits can be issued.

Material List

Gathering all of the materials the design calls for is not easy either.  A considerable amount of thought is put into the design of what materials should be used for construction.  Everything from the type of concrete to be used in the foundation to the color or paint in the restrooms.

Contractors

Who is going to construct the building is also a very important part of the building design.  A contractor who understands the details of the design and who has the resources to build the building as it is designed in a timely manner is hard to find.

Financier

Having someone who understands the financial needs of a building development is probably the most important resource for making a building design come to life.  Without funds to pay for everything involved with the construction of the building, there would be No building.

There are even more supporting businesses who help bring a building design to life.  Support groups like attornies, title companies, and insurance brokers also play an important part in all the work that goes on after the building design has been finished.

It takes a village of businesses to bring a building design to life.  Don’t take for granted that once the building design is finished that getting the building built will be simple.
